Our project was invited to showcase our activities and our findings in a dedicated stand in the heart of the Festival of New European Bauhaus 2026. From 9 – 13 of June, we have demonstrated how across Greece, France, Portugal, Ireland and Sweden, educational institutions can become far more than places of learning. Through sustainable retrofitting, participatory governance and community co-creation, schools, universities and science centres evolved into open civic ecosystems where sustainability is lived, practiced and shared.
At the same time, NEB|LAB Eco²-Schools showed that educational buildings can become engines of community transformation. Across all pilot regions, schools, campuses and science centres became active public spaces where sustainability, wellbeing and participation came together to create measurable social impact.
